CHAT a spa is a major investment and one that should not be taken lightly. Hot tubs cost thousands of dollars and if not maintained properly, they can become ineffective within a few months. Maintenance of your spa and all its components is a key factor in how long it will last. To maximize the life of your spa and keep it for the proper functioning of many years, follow these steps to make sure your spa is working properly.

Testing

Testing your water once a week is crucial for maintaining a hot tub. When you buy a spa, the manufacturer must provide the test strips or drops which coincide with the type of spa you purchased. If your spa uses bromine, the test strip will need to test for bromine, chlorine, pH and alkalinity. For chlorine, it tests the pH and alkalinity. If your spa uses a natural purifier, the test strip should indicate it is testing for pH, alkalinity and monopersulfates.

Shock Treatment

Shocking is an important element in maintaining your spa. If you use your spa 2-4 times a week, you will have the shock only once a week. If you use your spa more than 4 times a week, you'll have twice to shock. If you have a natural purifier (as opposed to a bromine purifier) lightly shock spa after each use as well as a huge shock for weeks.

Chemicals

Once you have a schedule, maintaining your chemicals is easy. If you test your spa and your pH level is low, there are products you can buy specifically to increase those levels. In addition, there are also products that are designed specifically for hot tubs that have pH levels that are too high. Your spa should have bromine or natural purifier in this area at any time.

Keep the pumps

Spa to keep you running 24 hours a day to prevent bacteria and viruses. The water that remains in one place for a certain period of time tends to grow bacteria and fungi that can lead to a number of problems in the future. You can buy automatic timers to be installed in your hot tub, which automatically activates the pump at certain times of the day.

Filter Cleaning
